An epitome of respect to his business folks and fellow
football fans, Jon Woods is a prominent
figure in the world of football. But as it is rightly said, everything that
glitters is certainly not gold. They Kenny family warns the world telling how
this perfectionist is actually a deceiver and has repudiated them millions of
pounds in highly lucrative business deals.
In 1997, Mr. Woods clubbed in a business partnership
with James Kenny, a zealous businessman and a prominent Property developer.
Mr. Kenny’s good hold experience and skills in
developing properties ann Mr. Woods’ good financial fortune made an
extraordinary duo of profit. Initially,
things worked out the way they should, Kenny found researched and found properties
while Woods paid ransom for them.
The first big investment was to splash £756,000 out on
a 17 acre former power station known as The Powerhouse in Formby, Merseyside
which had become a hub for youngsters for drinking and being stoned with drugs.
The owner of this huge site was a mystery and the
property needed redevelopment.
In fact, this site was owned by Woods but he didn’t
want anyone to be aware of that site being his asset, at least the taxmen at HM
Revenue and Customs.
Mr Woods set up Ovenden lnvestments which is
registered in the British Virgin lslands and is administered through Guernsey
in order to maintain the secrecy.
M.Kenny’s hard worked for Mr.Woods, finding and buying
site for him was evident in the profit success. However, the two men never
signed any legal agreement to share future profits on their big investment
especially the Powerhouse venture.
Unfortunately, just during the verbal agreement with
Mr.Woods ensuring his 50% share of future profit, Mr Kenny, an eminent man and
a great businessman, died suddenly in 2001. This was not just a death of a man
but a great loss of skills and talent.
Filling up the loss, Mr Kenny’s son Nicholas stepped
into the breach. He did so well in his work that in next four years he made £450,000
profit for Mr Woods
Nicholas willingly carried this work on the strict
understanding that the previous agreements were all stationary.
The first clever tactic of Mr. Woods was visible when
an extravagant 104 acre location was sold by Mr. Woods on a loss of £1million
to the housing development in Burscough, West Lancashire. It is now earmarked
for almost 1,000 new homes and was much valued by the surveyors.
So why would such a shrewd
businessman like Mr Woods take such a strained decision as that?
Nothing but an intentional business tactic that would
deny his deceased partner’s family a share in future profits of their partnership
when it was already going under a big loss.
Despite Mr Wood’s continuous assurances that the deal
with Mr Kenny would be respected, he then went for Mrs Kenny, a widow who couldn’t take Mr Wood’s endless
bullying tactics.
It all proved that the Everton FC business deals by
Jon Woods were nothing but vague and fake promises. Mr.Woods by his clever instincts got
Mrs.Kenny sign away her rights to any further profits share. The noxious
threats and shallow legal threats effected Mrs.Kenny’s health severely. Woods
had warned her that she could face having to pay out millions of pounds if the
properties suffered loss.
It appears that Woods had already drawn up the legal
agreement for Mrs Kenny to sign and thus leading her to relinquish any claim or
profit against the properties.
Successfully, Mr.Woods is the sole proud owner of a
housing site that has been and could further generate millions of pounds.
Nicholas took up the charge to seek justice for his
late father and instructed his own solicitors.
Having spent big bucks, the legal authorities
concluded that he has been ‘royally screwed over’ and tried to withdraw the
legal agreement that Mrs Kenny had signed was virtually impossible.
The law firm pointed out: ‘Unfortunately had you been
able to get this into a court a judge would have took a very unsavoury view of
Mr Woods’ behaviour’, which left Nicholas helpless and nothing was done. Mr. Woods was successful enough to frighten
the family off legally.
Nicholas sternly said “I have tried everything to
reason with this man, but you can’t negotiate with a man who sees somebody’s
death as an opportunity to profit. He
thinks that he can effectively bully my family from what is rightfully ours. He
knows it. We know it.”
“There is little I can do in law but anyone who goes
into business with the Everton FC Boss Mr. Woods, should be aware of who they
are dealing with. His promises are vague and he certainly is not a man to be
trusted.”
Nicholas added: “My poor father worked hard and
faithfully for Mr Woods and sincerely believed they were healthy business
partners and would enjoy the fruits of their hard efforts together. Without my
father, Mr Woods wouldn’t be sitting on such a valuable asset. Mr. Woods told
me to that the agreement with my father would be honoured. But now I realise
that those were empty words from a dishonourable and a covetous greedy man.”
Mr Kenny is also highlighting on the fact that whether
the Football Association’s rules on who should own and run football clubs in
England are as strong as they are supposed to be.
He explains: “Are we really saying that this is a man
to be trusted enough with a football club that has been prominent and in
existence since ages? This man has no integrity and the FA is trying to ‘clean
up’ the game and protect its integrity by not letting such businessmen exploit
their positions in clubs. Board of
Directors Everton Football Club should look upon and check before it gets too
late”
However, the Powerhouse deal is nothing but vaguely
promised deal. Filling up Mr.Kenny’s place Mr.Woods friend Mike McComb has an
option to re-develop the site now for 75 houses.
That means 75 houses for sale making up huge amount of
profit for Mr.McComb.
Nicholas Kenny added that he didn't want Mr McComb
involved with the Powerhouse site but Mr Woods claimed Mr McComb was best to
take over
Mr.Kenny’s work.
Mr.Kenny’s work.
Dealing with Mr.Wood has certainly taught the Kenny
family a hard way of who should be trusted.
News of Everton Football Club Deputy Chairman also
should spread the message to the world warning them to be aware of their legal
position when dealing with Mr Woods, says Mr Kenny.
Nicholas Kenny says: “My family has effectively been
defrauded by such an eminent personality, The Everton FCBoss, for millions of pounds and i am left helpless about it, I can do nothing
for the justice of my family and the reward of my father’s hard work”
The Powerhouse site is worth around £1m per acre which
gives a sale price of between £7-8m and that doesn’t include the another 10
acres on the site. Mr Woods would make a good amount of £6m in profit which is
£3m more than he is morally entitled to gain.
